The 3-piece welding rod storage tubes are made of aluminum with an orange finish. Each section unscrews and has an O-ring to seal it watertight. They have an inside diameter of 33/64 inches (about 13mm). I have some red 1/8″ welding rods that are 11/64″ in diameter with the flux. I am only able to fit five rods inside a storage tube. I have some gray 1/8″ welding rods that are 27/128″ (about 13/64″) in diameter with the flux. I am only able to fit four rods inside a storage tube. The rods are 13-3/4″ long, which means I have to connect six of the center sections plus two end sections in order to fit the rods in a storage tube. Therefore, the three storage tubes actually only become one storage tube for welding rods. I was surprised at how little storage these provide. I have a whole box of electrodes. Since it takes a 3-pack of tubes to construct one storage container for four or five welding rods, it would take quite a few 3-packs to store them all. It does not seem like an efficient solution. These would need to have a much larger diameter to be useful for this purpose.The ad mentions that these storage tubes are also great for storing matches for camping and other small items you may wish to keep dry. I think that is probably a better use of these tubes.I am mystified as to why these storage tubes are being primarily marketed for storing welding rods. But for storing and protecting other little things, these should work great. These do perform the function as described, so I am not deducting anything. However, I think that if your goal is to store welding rods in a weather-tight container, you should look elsewhere unless you only own four or five welding rods.
